Bali Surf Lessons Made Easy

Prices, Options & What’s Included

Are you ready to catch your very first wave in the beautiful paradise of Bali? If you’re a complete newbie or have tried surfing a few times before, taking surf lessons is the best way to learn all the basics and gain confidence in the water. One of the questions you might have is whether you should join a group lesson or book a private surf guide and how much this actually costs. Knowing this will help you find the best learning experience for you.

Let’s dive into the details of surf lessons in Bali, covering prices, private vs. group sessions, and the equipment you will need to get started!

Private VS. Group lessons

Let’s kick things off with the way you want to learn how to surf. Would you like to learn it among other beginner surfers or would you prefer to have a private 1:1 surf guide? Both options have their pros and cons, but which one fits you best? At our Surf School in Bali, many beginner surfers joined our 5-day Learn To Surf program and we know that the answer to this question really depends on what you are looking for. Your goals, personality and level.

Choose a Private Surf Lesson if:

  • You’re looking for personalized attention. Enjoy one-on-one coaching that specifically focuses on your needs. If you want to work on your pop-up, your paddling or turning on the wave, your surf guide will help you out right away.
  • You want more flexible scheduling. With a private session you can usually choose your lesson times to fit your schedule. Making it ideal if you prefer a more laid-back approach.
  • You want faster progress. Many people who are just learning how to surf find they improve more quickly with personalized instruction.

Private sessions are for beginners who may feel a little hesitant or nervous in the water, have a tight schedule and would like to have an individual experience. It can offer you that extra reassurance while experiencing all the benefits of surfing.

Join Group Lessons if:

  • You enjoy a fun and social vibe. Learning with fellow surf enthusiasts creates a supportive environment where everyone can share in the excitement of learning.
  • You’re looking for a cost-effective option. Group lessons are generally more affordable than private ones, making them a great choice for travelers on a budget.
  • You love meeting new people. You will be meeting many new people along the journey who will motivate and support you. You will also learn from the others and build friendships with other surfers.

Joining a surf class with other beginner surfers is the most popular choice for people who are just learning how to surf in Bali. The energy in a group lesson in Bali is infectious. You’re all in it together and you can’t help but laugh at those first (funny) tries to balance on your surfboard. Group lessons are definitely the best option if you learn best in a dynamic environment or if you enjoy being around people.

No matter which option you choose, you’ll be guided by our experienced instructors who are fully dedicated to help you avoid beginner mistakes, learn all the skills and make the most of your surfing adventure!
